"Carcinogen Crush" is a song by American rock band AFI. It was originally written for their sixth studio album Sing The Sorrow, but the band felt that it did not fit on the album. It was re-recorded during the recording sessions of their seventh studio album Decemberunderground, but was not included once again. It was eventually released for digital download on iTunes on December 4, 2007 and as a playable track in the video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
The basis was written by bassist Hunter Burgan.

After the song was available for download on the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock soundtrack, a bad quality version surfaced on the Internet. AFI released a 90-second preview through their fanclub, The Despair Faction, and eventually their MySpace page shortly after.
It was announced on November 30, 2007 on AFI's official website that the full song will be available for digital download on December 4, 2007.
The song is also available on the Japanese edition of their eighth studio album Crash Love and the "Medicate" U.K. vinyl.
Interscope announced the release of an Xbox 360 exclusive three song companion pack available for download on Xbox Live with the purchase of the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock soundtrack, featuring Carcingon Crush as one of the three songs. A code that cannot be activated more than once enables buyers to download the content.
The companion pack was re-released in August as the 'Companion Track Pack' on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the 'Eyeliner Pack' on the Playstation 3 store.
An extended play was confirmed by AFI to feature the track and to be released in December 2007. However, it was rescheduled for the spring of 2008. The EP was again rescheduled to be released on June 24, 2008. A track list was announced by an unofficial website, causing the band to re-name and re-arrange the tracks. The band eventually announced that due to 'personal issues', the EP's release date would remain indefinite.
AFI announced in 2009 that it would be released after their eighth studio Crash Love, but eventually cancelled the EP's existence due to political issues. Several of the EP's confirmed tracks: "Carcinogen Crush", "Ether", "Fainting Spells", and "100 Words" were slowly released, with the exception of "The View from Here", which remains unreleased.
